The Goodnight and Miller Middle School teams took part in their district cross country meet on Saturday.

Goodnight’s seventh grade boys and eighth grade boys and girls all took seventh place at the meet, with the seventh grade girls placing eight. The school’s top finisher were Criston Good (seventh grade boys, 7th place), Lucero Alvarado (seventh grade girls, 23rd place), Jonzo Vasques (eighth grade boys, 8th place) and Ruby Gonzales (eighth grade girls, 11th place.

“Overall, we had a great first year of XC at Goodnight Middle School,” head coach Alexandrea Winrow said. “I could not be more proud of the growth and success of these runners.”

Miller’s seventh grade teams both took the district crown, with Marcus Morales and Kareena Rodriguez each winning individual titles. Morales was followed by Connor McGlothin, Tylor Lewis and Miller Kenworthy, all finishing in the top-15. Rodriguez was followed by Aly Juarez, Annalise Martinez and Kayla Weimer, who all finished in the top-15.

Miller’s eighth grade teams both placed second at the meet. Caleb Standlee, Dylan Nunez, Tyler Swain and Elijiah Rubio were all top-15 finishers, as were Jennifer Aguliar and Malorey Torres.

“Super proud of both of these groups,” Miller head coach Dylan Jones said. “They all ran their hearts off.”
