On October 11-12, 2019, the PAGA Chapter of San Marcos will host approximately 200 golfers participating in the National Pan-American Golf Association 3rd Delegate Meeting and Golf Tournament. Twenty-one chapters have registered for the two-day workshop and golf tournament with Plum Creek serving as the primary course. The Delegates’ meeting/workshop will commence at 7:00am on Friday, October 11, with a brunch and welcome address by local dignitaries, and player registrations for the tournament starting at 10:00am. The Comfort Inn & Suites, located on Clovis Barker Road, will act as hospitality headquarters with tee-off entertainment beginning at 5:30pm to include a “Taste of PAGA”, players’ pool, music, and generous amounts of food items and mixers.
The National Pan America Golf Association (PAGA) has been in existence for over 50 years promoting golf for men, women and juniors through community involvement and fundraising activities. National PAGA has been established in 9 states with 44 Chapters totaling over 2600 in membership. National PAGA was created to instill fair play, the desire to spend time enjoyably while encouraging amateur golf among the member chapters, and to promote Junior Golf. The organization also strives to solicit friendly relations with civic and athletic organizations and to support initiatives of member chapters. It is the mission of San Marcos PAGA to provide assistance and scholarships to students in need of advanced education (commensurable with objectives as outlined by the organization), to provide support to charitable pursuits, and to appropriate needed funds for such purposes.
Special thanks and appreciation is given to the San Marcos Tourist Information Center for providing much needed resources and logistical support in making this event possible. 2019 is the fourth time that the San Marcos Chapter of PAGA has hosted a National PAGA event after having held similar meetings here in 1985, 2004, and 2011. San Marcos PAGA eagerly awaits the return of National PAGA to our fair city in 2023 when we will host the annual winter meeting with an expectancy of 500 golfers.
