Rickie (Rick) Eugene Roberts 

Rickie (Rick) Eugene Roberts passed away in his home in Hempstead, Texas on September 4, 2019, at the age of 72.

Rick was born on August 15, 1947, in Baytown, Texas to Walter Virgil and Frances Evelyn Roberts. Rick grew up in Channelview Texas, and enlisted in the Navy following high school. Rick served for three tours in Vietnam before heading to San Marcos, TX to receive a degree from Southwest Texas State University. 

After college Rick moved to Florida where he was a successful home and commercial builder. Rick was known for his hard work and his creative designs. Rick returned to Texas where he was able to expand his creativity in the form of his work. He designed and built many projects, one of which is the Hays County Veterans Memorial in San Marcos, TX. 

Rick was a proud father of four children, Jason, Lori, Joshua and Rebecca. He loved to share his passions with his children, including his passion for hunting elk. During this time of year, Rick could normally be found in the mountains on his annual elk hunt. Rick excelled at archery hunting and elk calling. In his life Rick invented archery equipment, ran an archery shop, was recognized for his elk calling, and enjoyed numerous successful hunts with friends and family. 

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Virgil, his mother, Frances, and his youngest son, Joshua. He is survived by his children, Jason Roberts, Lori Roberts and and Rebecca Roberts; his eight grandchildren; his two sisters, Patty Fleischman, and Debra Brent; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Services to honor the life of Rick were held at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos, TX on Sunday, September 15th.  Visitation was at 11 a.m. and a memorial service followed at 12 p.m.
