A bond election, an election for the District 4 and District 5 seats on the SMCISD board of trustees, and school attendance boundaries are on the board’s agenda for Tuesday night.

The board is slated to consider an order calling an election to be held May 4, 2019, to elect trustees from Districts 4 and 5. The District 4 seat is currently held by Kathy Hansen; District 5’s representative on the board is Clementine Cantu. The period to file for a place on the ballot began Jan. 16 and continues through 5 p.m. on Feb. 15. More information can be found on SMCISD's website.

The trustees are also scheduled to consider an order calling a bond election in the district and to consider approval of new school attendance boundaries.

The district has held numerous public meetings to discuss redrawing elementary school attendance zones after the construction of Rodriguez Elementary School in the Trace development.

A bus purchase for the district’s food service Meals on Wheels program, an early resignation incentive for professional, paraprofessional and auxiliary employees, and the appointment of representatives for the city’s Commission on Children and Youth are also on the agenda for Tuesday night’s meeting.

The board normally meets on Mondays but because of Martin Luther King Day, the meeting was moved to Tuesday. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the Criminal Justice Classroom of San Marcos High School, 2601 Rattler Rd. Regular meetings are livestreamed on YouTube.
