The San Marcos football season is just 66 days away.
The Rattlers announced their official schedule for the 2019 season that includes a preseason scrimmage, five road games and five home games.
Before the season kicks off, San Marcos will tune itself up in an exhibition with San Antonio Holmes on August 23. The time and site of the scrimmage have not yet been announced.
The team begins its first game in Buda for a game with the Hays Rebels taking place August 30 at 7:30 p.m. They’ll remain on the road the next week for a Saturday game against the San Antonio Johnson Jaguars on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. inside Comalander Stadium. San Marcos’ first game inside Rattler Stadium takes place Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. against the Laredo United Longhorns. The team defeated the Longhorns on the road in 2018, 50-49.
The Rattlers’ District 26-6A schedule opens at home against the San Antonio East Central Hornets on Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The team will play one more game at Converse Judson on Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. before taking a bye week.
The second half of San Marcos’ season starts with two home games, the first against the Cibolo Steele Knights on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and the second versus the Schertz Clemens Buffaloes on October 18 at 7:30 p.m. The Rattlers will then travel to New Braunfels to square off with the Unicorns on Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. San Marcos’ homecoming happens on Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. hosting the Smithson Valley Rangers. The team’s regular season will conclude on Nov. 8 as they face the New Braunfels Canyon Cougars at 7:30 p.m.
