Austin captures first league title in sweep

After finishing fifth in the league standings, LOVB Austin pulled off an incredible postseason run, winning two matches on reverse sweeps before defeating LOVB Omaha 3-0 [25-19, 25-22, 2523] to capture the first ever league title in franchise history.

Going into the playoffs, LOVB Austin finished with a record of 5-11.

In the first round of the playoffs, LOVB Austin faced LOVB Salt Lake. Austin fell behind 2-0 after dropping the first two sets 26-24, 26-24. However, Austin staved off elimination, defeating Salt Lake 27-25, 25-23 to force a fifth set. In the fifth set, Austin defeated Salt Lake 18-16 to advance in the semifinals.

Meeting LOVB Atlanta who was first in the league standings, Austin was once again behind 2-0 losing the first and second sets 25-21, 2515. Austin again rallied, taking the third set 25-22 before winning the fourth set 25-10 and forcing the fifth set. In the fifth set, Austin won 16-14 to defeat Atlanta and punch their ticket to the championship game.

Meeting Omaha in the final, Austin swept Omaha in the three sets to capture the league title.
