Dr. Edgar Stockton Laird

Dr. Edgar Stockton Laird, born October 14, 1937 died on June 19, 2019 of cancer. He was preceded in death by his first son Edgar Jr., his first wife Connie, his daughter Mary Lou and his parents Sam and Mary Bob Laird. He is survived by his wife Judith, his son Brennus, his granddaughter Keri, his brother, Ernest and wife Sue and their children Roy, Eric, and Nana, as well as his cousin John (Thumper) Millican Edgar, a Rutgers University PhD, was a Professor Emeritus at Texas State University who retired after 48 years in the English department. A San Saba boy called Roscoe; he embraced his smalltown roots even as he achieved renown as a medieval scholar who specialized in the history of science with an emphasis on astronomy. Known on campus and off as a humble man who cherished his books and lived in his mind, he will be remembered as a man loved by his students, colleagues, friends and family.
