TXST Chorale ends season

TXST Chorale ends its season with a concert 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14 at Evans Auditorium, with two other vocal groups: the University Singers and Purgatory Creek Chorale. Each group presents a few select pieces and all three perform together in Illuminare by Elaine Hagenberg, with a chamber orchestra directed by Craig Hella Johnson.

TXST Chorale director Joey Martin notes, “This is the first time that TXST choirs have shared a concert on campus with a community-based choir since our concert with the Heart of Texas Chorus over 20 years ago. We’re delighted to have this opportunity to share the stage with Andrew Mc-Nair and the members of the Purgatory Creek Chorale in what I hope is the first of many collaborations.”

The concert ends with all three groups and chamber orchestra performing a short work in five sections by Elaine Hagenberg, based on Latin, Greek and English texts. The work evokes a season of beauty disrupted by darkness and confusion, but light and hope return as a guide to peace.

Composed of 28 singers in spring 2025, the TXST Chorale is joined by over 50 voices of University Singers plus 14 members of Purgatory Creek Chorale for this collaborative concert.

Fee-based parking is available at the Pleasant St. Garage by the Music Building. Tickets are available at txstatepresents. universitytickets. com.
