San Marcos fell at home to East Central after the Hornets scored 12 unanswered runs in the Rattlers 13-2 loss on Tuesday.

The loss drops the Rattlers record to 10-14-1 overall and their district record to 1-8.

East Central scored the first run of the game in the first inning on a RBI single in center field to go up 1-0 on the Rattlers.

San Marcos answered back in the bottom of the second inning.

Marley Longoria started the inning with a hard hit infield single towards the softball before reaching base safely. Longoria then took second on a passed ball before Selena Silva laid down the bunt. Silva also reached base safely before moving to second as Longoria scored from second to tie the game at 1-1.

Emery Cisneros laid down the sacrifice bunt to move Longoria to third base before Maddy Nunez hit an RBI single into left field to give the Rattlers a 2-1 lead.

The Rattler defense held East Central scoreless in the third inning before both teams entered the fourth with San Marcos still leading 2-1.

Unfortunately for the Rattlers, it marked the last time San Marcos held the lead.

East Central scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning before adding another six runs in the top of the fifth inning to seal the Rattlers fate.

The San Marcos offense was unable to find any momentum before losing the game 13-2.

The Rattlers will be back on the road Friday night in a showdown with the Converse Judson Rockets. San Marcos won their first meeting with Judson 5-2 at home as the Rattlers will look to snap their losing skid.

First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Judson.
