The Rattlers fell on the district road to Schertz Clemens, losing to the Buffaloes 12-2.
San Marcos falls to 1013-1 overall and 1-7 in district play.
The Buffaloes scored three runs in the first three innings to lead 3-0 before the Rattlers answered in the top of the fourth inning.
Following a single from Kendra Robledo, Emalyn Martinez hit her first career home run over the wall in center field, cutting the Clemens lead down to 3-2.
Unfortunately for the Rattlers, it was the closest San Marcos could to taking back the lead. The Buffaloes scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend their lead 10-2.
Clemens later added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win the game via mercy rule 12-2.
San Marcos will be back home Tuesday night in a district showdown with the East Central Hornets. East Central is coming off a 13-3 win over the Cibolo Steele Knights, forcing a three-way tie for first place between the Hornets, the Knights and the Buda Johnson Jaguars.
First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at San Marcos.
