After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7,1941, President Roosevelt declared war on Japan. A problem arose when men left to join the war, there was no one left to work the jobs that remained on the home front such as welding and construction. March 21 is “Rosie the Riveter Day,” honoring the women who stepped up to fill those roles.
Shown below, Rowena Brown displays the artwork she will submit to the Young American Patriot Art that s to the local VFW Auxiliary Post by March 31 for a chance at the National Scholarship Award Contest award of $15,000.
