SAN MARCOS FIRE DEPARTMENT
There were two structure fires that occurred in San Marcos on Wednesday: 1456 River Road and at 1010 Hazelton Street.
The city of San Marcos said that the first occurred at 1456 River Road at the Blanco River Duplexes, and the San Marcos Fire Department responded at approximately 1:50 p.m.
“The fire was in the firstfloor unit. … The fire was contained to one building,” the city said, adding the fire was extinguished within 15 minutes from the first phone call. “An adult male was evaluated at the scene by EMS but refused transport. ”
The city said the second fire occurred at 1010 Hazelton Street, and the SMFD responded at 4:45 p.m.
“The fire spread to an adjacent home [at] 1000 Furman [street]. Both fires were quickly knocked down,” the city said. “Firefighters remained on scene until about 7:45 p.m. when the Fire Marshal’s office took over the investigation.”
San Marcos Fire Captain Clinton Foehner said that both fires are still under investigations. Five separate occupancies — two units at River Road and three at Hazelton Street, but Foehner was unsure about the exact dollar amount of the damages.
“These two fires do not appear to be connected,” Foehner said. “No injuries were reported, to my knowledge.”
