Texas State fell in their midweek game last Tuesday, losing to the Baylor Bears 19-3.
The Bobcats and Head Coach Steven Trout fell to 8-12 overall, dropping their sixth game in a row while having won just two of their last twelve games since the win over then No. 1 ranked Texas A&M.
“At the end of the day, we were dominated on all three sides of the game,” Trout said. “[Baylor] did a really good job about coming in and getting after it. For us, it was not a good performance tonight.”
After trailing Baylor 1-0 in the top of the first, the Bobcats answered back as senior catcher Ian Collier hit a three-run home run to put Texas State up 3-1.
Unfortunately for Texas State, the homer marked the last time the Bobcats touched home plate. Baylor answered back with a three-run third inning before another three-run inning in the fifth to put the Bobcats behind 7-3.
In the top of the sixth inning, Baylor put their foot on the gas pedal. The Bears scored 10 runs on the Bobcats with the help of two errors, four walks and one hit by pitch.

The Bears then added two more runs in the top of the seventh before the game was called due to the run-rule.
“It always starts on the mound of having too many free 90s,” Trout said, ”We had 11 free 90s, during the game and that’s just on the pitching side with errors and things like that. So, it’s always number one, that you have to take care of the baseball and not build innings for them. “They out hit us andwe only put three runs, so we just have to get back to work tomorrow.”
Texas State is back home Friday for a three-game conference series against the Arkansas State Red Wolves. The Red Wolves enter the game with a 1010 overall record and a 2-1 conference record. Arkansas State won their conference series against Marshall last weekend before defeating Missouri State 3-2 last Tuesday.
First pitch for Friday’s game is set for 6 p.m.
