Sophomore pitcher Madison Azua earned her second Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week award following her weekend performance against the App State Mountaineers.
On Friday, Azua came out of the bullpen in the fourth inning before sitting down ten straight batters during the Bobcats 8-2 win.
Getting the start on Saturday, Azua rebounded after the first two innings to strike out a career high 13 batters in the Bobcats 7-4 win.
In the sweep on Sunday, Azua allowed just two hits, no earned runs, no walks and struck out four batters in the Bobcats 6-4 win.
Going into this weekend’s series against Coastal Carolina, Azua owns a 10-2 record with one save and an ERA of 1.58. Azua has also struck out 93 batters compared to 15 walks.
Texas State will be back in conference play in a high profile showdown with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
