Bobcats unable to hold off Marshall comeback in loss

Texas State’s season came to an end last Wednesday as the Bobcats fell to the Marshall Thundering Herd 68-62 at the Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The Bobcats end the season with a 13-17 overall record and a 7-11 conference record.

Texas State and Marshall were tied at 6-6 before the Bobcats went on a 10-0 run to lead the Thundering Herd 16-6. Going into the second quarter, the Bobcats led 16-8.

Marshall then made their comeback in the second before tying the game up at 31-31 with less than a minute remaining before halftime.

Senior Jaylin Foster made the jumper with 45 seconds left to give the Bobcats a 33-31 lead at halftime.

The Thundering Herd opened the third quarter on a 8-2, taking their first lead of the game at 4035. Going into the fourth quarter, Texas State trailed 49-45.

Despite the Bobcats best efforts, Texas State was unable to overcome the deficit, losing to Marshall 68-62.

Senior Destiny Terrell led the team in scoring with 18 points followed by Foster with 14 points. Terrell also led the team in rebounding with six. Sophomore Ja’Mia Harris was third in scoring with 11 points.
