Texas State fell in their midweek game to the Incarnate Word Cardinals, losing on a walk-off home run 7-6.
The loss drops the Bobcats overall record to 7-5.
The Bobcats struck first in the top of the first inning after sophomore center fielder Ethan Farris hit an RBI double to put Texas State up 1-0.
Following an RBI single by Zachary Gingrich, junior second baseman Cole Tabor blasted a two-run homer over the right field wall, extending the lead to 4-0.
UIW scored two runs in the first two innings, cutting the lead down to 4-2.
Texas State pushed their lead back to three runs in the top of the fourth inning after senior catcher Ian Collier hit an RBI single, making it a 5-2 game.
The Cardinals made their comeback, scoring four unanswered runs before an RBI double put UIW in front 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Bobcats didn’t relent, however, and answered back in the top of the eighth inning.
Senior Cam Thompson hit a solo home run in right field, tying the game at 6-6.
But UIW had the last answer. Down to two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals won the game, hitting a walkoff home run over the wall in right field to win 7-6.
Texas State will continue their road swing this weekend when the Bobcats make the long trip to North Carolina in a showdown with the Campbell Camels.
Campbell enters the game with a 4-8 overall record. Last weekend, the Camels dropped their three-game series against Georgia Southern. In their mid-week game on Tuesday, Campbell fell to Liberty 4-1.
First pitch for Texas State-Campbell is set for 6 p.m. Friday.
