The award-winning Wimberley Players brings Beth Henley’s Pulitzer prize-winning work, “Crimes of the Heart,” to the stage Feb. 21. A dark comedic drama, the play reveals life’s absurdities as it explores the family dynamics of the McGrath sisters.
Set in Mississippi, the three sisters reunite to manage the latest in a series of family crises. The audience has a front row seat to the humor and mental filters each sister employs to keep their humanity intact as they navigate current troubles and the impacts of a past that haunts them.
When one of the siblings is pushed to the brink by desperation, they pull together despite their differences, bound by their love which proves to be stronger than any tragedy.
A 1986 film of the same name, directed by Australian Bruce Beresford, starred Jessica Lange as Meg, Diane Keaton as Lenny and Sissy Spacek as Babe Magrath.
Captivating and introspective, “Crimes of the Heart” connects with audiences through the shared experience of family relationships.

Directed by veteran actor and director Tysha Calhoun, cast members include Emily-Ann Patterson as Meg, Sarah Coyle as Lenny and Kelly Menz as Babe. In the role of Chick is Elle Klein, Samuel Ellisor plays Doc and David Young plays Barnette.
The play opens Friday, Feb. 21 and continues through March 16, 2025. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays.
