SMHS BOYS SOCCER

The Rattlers opened up district play with a big road win over Hays County rival Buda Johnson, beating the Jaguars 3-2.

San Marcos improved their overall record to 3-7 and their district record to 1-0.

The Rattlers jumped out to the lead in the first half and entered halftime up 3-0. Santiago Torres scored the first goal for San Marcos off the assist from Asher Sutherlun. Julio Alvarado added the second goal for San Marcos following the assist from Joshua Guzman.

Guzman later added the third and final goal from the Rattlers to put San Marcos up 3-0.

Buda Johnson attempted to make their comeback in the second half, adding two goals in the period to make it a onescore game. However, the Rattler defense was able to lock down and keep the Jaguars from scoring the equalizing goal to secure the win.
