TXST MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Bobcats notched their fourth win in their last five games, defeating the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 89–74.
The win improves Texas State’s record to 12-8 overall, taking their conference record to 5-3 while earning their first road win against the Cajuns since 2022. The game snapped a six-game losing streak against their out of state rivals.
“I thought it was a hard game, especially with our circumstances, to get here and things of that nature,” Head Coach Terrence Johnson said. “It took us a while to get going, but I’m really proud of my guys. The seniors especially stepped up and kept us in the game early on.
“It has been a while since we have won here and for these guys to hold on to the rope and continue to compete throughout, especially with so many guys playing deep into the game, I’m really proud of them and looking forward to celebrating with them tonight before preparing for Arkansas State.”
Senior power forward Tylan Pope led the team in scoring with 25 points, marking his third straight game scoring more than 20 points.
Senior small forward Joshua O’Garro was second in scoring with 17 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Senior small forward Dylan Dawson was third in scoring with 13 points, shooting 3-5 from threepoint range.
Junior small forward Austin Green and sophomore point guard Kaden Gumbs both had 12 points each for the Bobcats, marking five players scoring in double figures.
Texas State returns to play Saturday on the road against Arkansas State. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
