Robert, Regina McDonald to be honored at Stars of Texas Gala benefiting CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital

The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa San Marcos Foundation is thrilled to announce the 2025 Stars of Texas Gala will take place on April 10. Hays County’s premier annual blacktie event will honor Robert and Regina McDonald and feature entertainment by the cover band The Grooves.

“It is a privilege to honor Robert and Regina at this year’s gala,” John Navarrette, chairman of the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa San Marcos Foundation board of directors, said. “Their contributions to the San Marcos community have created opportunities for both lifelong residents and university students.”

Robert W. McDonald, III, is the founder and president of McDonald Development Group, a real estate development and investment firm with over 80 companies and partnerships. He plays an active role in his family’s 120-year-old bank, First Choice Bank in Mississippi, and was a founding director and board member of Capital Bank of Texas. Over his 40-year career, McDonald has owned and operated 35 retail stores, insurance agencies, title companies and numerous other entrepreneurial ventures.

His connection to San Marcos dates to the early 1970s when he attended Boy Scout camp in Wimberley. In 1975, he moved to San Marcos to attend Southwest Texas State University and played golf for the Bobcat golf team. He is married to Regina Gateaux McDonald, and they have three children. Together they have made substantial philanthropic enhancements throughout the San Marcos community.

The 2025 Stars of Texas Gala will feature gourmet dining, a unique silent auction and lively entertainment by The Grooves. This year’s gala will raise vital funds to purchase surgical sterilizer equipment for various departments throughout CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital — San Marcos.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa San Marcos Foundation was established in 2022 (formerly Central Texas Medical Center Foundation founded in 1982). The foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that exists to cultivate philanthropy and increase awareness and financial support for CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos.

Today, the foundation continues to fund innovation, technology, capital facilities and equipment, community health, and wellness programs, while looking for creative and meaningful ways to support advancements in clinical excellence at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos.
