METAL MUSIC AND MEMORIALS

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND?

The San Marcos Daily Record staff gives recommendations on what to do in our community

Who’s ready to head bang? From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday at the Porch, located at 129 East Hopkins Street #110, there will be a Vatos Locos Metal Show featuring Cerebral Desecration, Stitched Up, Tibetan Sky Burial and Grey Feather. There is no cover for those of you 21 and over, and the cover is $5 for 18 to 20 year-olds. Listen to some live metal from the patio while you people watch and sip on a beer. Feel free to start at the sister bar, the Taproom, to fill up on one of their famous burgers before the show begins. Also on Saturday, support your fallen Veterans by participating in National Wreaths Out Day at the San Marcos City Cemetery at 10 a.m. This is the counterpart to Wreaths Across America, which occurred recently in which volunteers placed wreaths at the headstone of every Veteran in the cemetery. Now it’s time to remove them for dismantling and composting. Wear clothes appropriate for working outside and bring gloves, pliers and a broomstick. To sign up, visit wreathsacrossamerica. org/tx0916 or email Lisa Morris at lmorris@sanmarcostx. gov.
