With the freezing, rainy weather set to hit this Friday, the temptation to burrow down into blankets and binge-watch favorite movies is overwhelming. Still, we have to eat, and this weather makes me crave all my favorite local comfort foods. For lunch on Friday, I suggest chicken shawarma and sweet potato fries from Pita Shop. If you haven’t tried shawarma yet, Omar at Pita Shop makes the best. On Sunday, we’re having dinner at another favorite restaurant. I can’t think of a better cold-weather cuisine than Mexican- Indian fusion, and you can only find that at North Street. Dining in is lovely; the inside is nice and toasty, plus they have an amazing chai hot chocolate. My go-to is the paneer tikka masala: savory and spicy, with its signature homemade Indian cheese. My husband loves the Forbidden Taco with curry queso and avocado — a perfect splash of heat for a cold, dreary day.
