Santa made his annual San Marcos visit to help the Hill Country Freethinkers Association make holiday donations. This year, HCFA donated $2,000 to Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos and $1600 to Hill Country Women’s Health Collective.
Centro’s mission is to preserve, develop, promote and celebrate Hispanic arts, culture, heritage and values. Its center creates an environment for diverse arts and educational programming. Centro’s programs and classes include visual arts, theater, dance, literature, music, multimedia and the culinary arts, and they serve children, adults, families and other audiences.
Hill Country Women’s Health Collective provides access to free and discounted health and mental health services to women in need, and it promotes women’s health and wellness through education. Their services include well woman care, family planning, prenatal and postpartum support, parenting support, childbirth education and more.
Hill Country Freethinkers Association is an educational, charitable, and social organization established thirteen years ago in the greater San Marcos area. It traces its origin to Freethinking German immigrants who came to the Texas Hill Country between 1840 and 1860 seeking freedom from political and religious tyranny. The group meets monthly to discuss topics such as Freethought as a philosophical life-stance, ethics, humanism, science, psychology, philosophy and religion.
