It was another successful year of Texan Athletics at Wimberley. All Texan team sports qualified for the playoffs and several individual athletes showcased their skills to perform at the state level.

To have all so many athletes and teams qualify for the postseason at Wimberley is a testament to the hard work both Texan athletes and coaches have put in this year.

Starting the yearly recap is the team that made their grand return to the mountain after a 17-year drought.

Texan Volleyball captured their first state championship since 2007, winning the 4A Division II State Championship and beating the Canyon Randall Raiders 3-2 despite being down 0-2.

Wimberley’s state championship run proceeded at 42-3 overall becoming one of the few teams in program history to win over 40 games in the season. The Texans dropped only two sets in the playoffs, both coming in the state championship game.

Volleyball wasn’t the only team to see a berth at the state tournament.

Texan Team Tennis made another return to the state tournament for the third time in four years, looking to defend their state championship crown.

Wimberley also captured the district championship along with their second straight regional title.

Though the Texans fell to Canyon Randall in the state semifinals, don’t expect Wimberley to fall off.

Texan football continued their dominating run, winning their fourth straight district title along with an 8-2 regular season record.

In the postseason, Wimberley made another deep playoff run en route to capturing their third straight regional title. The 2025 senior class became the first to win three straight regional titles and three consecutive appearances in the state semifinals.

The Texans saw their season come to an end against Waco La Vega in the state semifinals.

The final team to see the State Meet was the Wimberley Boys golf team.

The Texans placed 2nd at the State Meet with the team of Jaxon Donaldson, Kellar Cudney, Hollis Eckols, Cody Stoever and Nolan Waida.

Donaldson captured the individual state championship, shooting 68 on both days of competition.

In the beginning of the year, both the Texans and Lady Texans basketball teams found success in the playoffs.

For the Lady Texans, the program was back in the playoffs after competing in an always tough District 27 with powerhouses in Fredericksburg and Boerne.

Wimberley finished in fourth place to nab the final playoff spot where the Texans faced old time rival La Verina in the Bi-District round.

Facing a district champion, the Lady Texans pulled off the upset to win their first playoff game in eight years, beating La Vernia 46-43. Wimberley fell in the area round to Navasota 50-46, but the postseason foundation has been laid for the 2024-2025 season.

The Texans finished in third place in the always tough District 27.

In a rare occurrence, the Texans hosted their playoff game at Texan Gym where Wimberley took on San Antonio YMLA.

The Texans defeated the Lions 88-47 for their third straight playoff win.

Wimberley fell to Sweeny in the area round.

On the soccer field, the Lady Texans again made a deep playoff run after placing in third place in district.

The Lady Texans defeated Georgetown Gateway in Bi-District 3-2 before beating district champion Pleasanton 2-0 in the area round.

In the regional quarterfinals, the Lady Texans fell to rival Boerne.

Also back on the soccer field, the Texans qualified for the playoffs after finishing fourth place in the district. Wimberley fell in the Bi-District round to Marble Falls.

Switching to the baseball diamond, Texan baseball finished in fourth place in district in the always tough District 27.

Wimberley nabbed the final playoff spot where they faced district champion La Vernia.

In a three-game series, the Texans won Game One 2-0.

Up 1-0, Wimberley completed the sweep with a 12-3 blowout win to bring home the Bi-District championship.

Advancing to the area round, the Texans met the El Campo Ricebirds.

Texans lost Game One 7-3 but forced a Game Three after beating the Ricebirds 9-1 in extra innings, which saw Wimberley score eight runs in the 10th inning.

The Texans lost Game 3 to El Campo 8-1.

On the softball field, the Texans were back in the playoffs after missing last season.

Wimberley placed in the third place in district, which included a thrilling 14-13 win over Boerne in extra innings.
