Wimberley Parks & Rec to hold polar bear plunge, 5k at Blue Hole
Ring in the New Year with a splash. Wimberley Parks and Recreation invites the community to kick off 2025 with its annual Polar Bear Plunge & 5K on January 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Blue Hole Regional Park.
The event combines fun, fitness, and a frosty challenge. The 5K route starts in Blue Hole, winds through the scenic streets of Wimberley, and concludes with an exhilarating plunge into the ice-cold waters of Cypress Creek. Designed for experienced runners or for those looking for a fun way to celebrate, the Polar Bear Plunge and 5K is a great way to start the year.
Richard Shaver, Director of Wimberley Parks and Recreation, said, 'We’re thrilled to start the New Year with the Polar Bear Plunge and 5K. It's a fun way to bring the community together and jump into 2025. This event has become a local favorite and we can't wait to celebrate its eighth year.'
In addition to the run and plunge, participants and spectators can enjoy a community jump into Cypress Creek, food and drink vendors offering delicious treats, lawn games in the swimming area, cozy coffee and hot chocolate drinks available for purchase, and other activities.
Whether participants are running, plunging or cheering from the sidelines, the event is designed for the whole family.
