The SMTX Mental Health Coalition, which is supported by the Core Four Partnership and housed at Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas, is a group that fosters collaborations between local providers of mental health services for children and youth to promote community well-being. And with all that hard work supporting others’ mental health, Cristal Lopez, Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas youth services director, thought a Coffee and Cookies luncheon for coalition members for the purposes of decompression and socializing was in order.
“We recognize the compassion fatigue many of us experience during this time of year,” the invitation stated. “Let’s take a moment for self-compassion and to enjoy some holiday treats together.”
In addition to food and drink, there was a “self care station” with free items such as coloring sheets, crayons, paint sets and gift bags.
According to the Community Action website, the Core Four is a partnership between the city of San Marcos, Hays County, San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District and Texas State University. Community Action, Inc. helps Central Texans improve economic self-reliance through a wide range of services and community partnerships.
