BOBCAT WINNING STREAK SNAPPED BY FAU
The Texas State Men’s basketball team saw their five-game winning streak get snapped, losing to Florida Atlantic 89-80.
The Bobcats drop their overall record to 7-4 overall.
“It was a hard game as FAU is a good team,” Head Coach Terrence Johnson said. “At times I thought their size and length disrupted us at times and took us out of rhythm. But I thought we had opportunities in this game. A few too many turnovers at critical times and then we didn’t go as well as we expected to.
“I think you’ve got to give them the credit. They had a really good game plan and pressured us at the right times to make things hard on us. I do like where we are at. We’ve got to regroup and respond in conference play coming up on the 21st.”
Leading the team in scoring for the Bobcats was senior forward Tyrel Morgan with 19 points. Senior forward Tylan Pope was second with 14 points followed by senior forward Joshua O’Garro with 13. O’Garro also led the team in rebounds with nine.
Junior guard Coleton Benson was fourth in scoring with 11 points followed by sophomore guard Kaden Gumbs with 10.
The Bobcats return home this Saturday to start conference play against the Georgia Southern Eagles. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
