Former Texas State linebacker Brian Holloway will continue his football career after signing with the Toronto Argonauts of the Candaian Football League.

Holloway played two seasons at Texas State after transferring from SMU in 2022. In his first season with the Bobcats, Holloway made 49 total tackles and 22 solo tackles.

In his second and final season at Texas State, Holloway established himself as the leader of the defense. The graduate from Clear Lake High School in Houston finished the 2023 season leading the team in total tackles with 105 along with 60 solo tackles.

Holloway’s defensive efforts during the 2023 season helped lead the Bobcats to their best season since 2014 with a 7-5 record and the program’s first ever bowl game appearance.

In the Bobcats first ever bowl game against Rice in the First Responder Bowl, Holloway cemented his status as a Texas State legend playing in the same stadium where he started his career.

The linebacker made six total tackles in the game but also made two interceptions, returning both for touchdowns in the Bobcats 45-21 win over Rice in the program’s first ever bowl win. Holloway was later named MVP of the game.

Numerous former Bobcat football players have played in the Candian Football League including but not limited to Jermiah Haydel, Liam Dobson, Kyle Hergel, Spergon Wynn and Barrick Nealy.
