Hays County Pet Resource Center seeks Pet Ambassador Program volunteers

The Hays County Pet Resource Center has announced the launch of its new Community Ambassador volunteer program, which aims to build stronger community connections to help keep people and pets together. Community Ambassadors will play a crucial role in representing Hays PRC through a variety of local opportunities.

In addition to ongoing volunteer opportunities at events, Hays PRC is recruiting volunteers to assist with new program initiatives. These include reuniting lost and found pets with their families, preventing them from going to animal shelters and providing one on one case management support for pet owners seeking help through the organization’s Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender program.

“Volunteers who dedicate their time, passion and energy to be a part of our programs, help save lives,” Lee Ann Shenefiel, Hays County Pet Resource Center Director and Executive Advisor said. “Getting a pet back home, supporting a family in need with essential items or providing education and resources are important steps to keeping pets in homes where they belong.”

Program priorities and volunteer functions include: • Distribute pet food and supplies

• Connect pet owners to vital resources • Reunite lost and found pets in the community

• Outreach in local neighborhoods to promote programs

• Participate in community events to talk about services

• Host pet supply drives or collect needed donations

By joining the Community Ambassador program, volunteers can make a significant impact on the community and help reach a larger area of Hays County residents in need of resources.
