TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Texas State University hosted its cherished Ring Celebration at Strahan Arena in the University Events Center. According to a Texas State University website, hundreds of students, families and friends gathered to commemorate academic achievements and immerse themselves in one of the university’s most enduring traditions.
The Ring Celebration was more than just an event; it stood as a testament to the spirit and pride that defines the Texas State experience. Students received their official Texas State University rings, produced exclusively by Balfour, and participated in the ceremonial Ring Plunge. During the ritual, students dipped their rings into a fountain filled with water from the San Marcos River, symbolizing a connection to the rich history and traditions carried by the river for over 125 years.
“The ring plunge reminded us of the journey we’ve taken as Bobcats,” shared one graduating senior. “It wasn’t just a ring; it was a symbol of perseverance and pride.”
The event began with student check-in, where attendees presented their tickets and photo IDs. Guests enjoyed photo opportunities, concessions and the chance to cheer on their loved ones during the ceremony. Many students proudly wore maroon and gold attire, capturing thematic photographs to mark this milestone moment.
The ceremony included a brief speaking program and professional photographs of the ring plunge, ensuring every participant left with cherished memories. Grad-Images provided photos of students dipping their hands into the fountain, with proofs sent to participants after the event.
The design of the Official Texas State Ring paid homage to the university’s heritage. From the lone star atop the ring to engravings of Old Main, the Bobcat logo and the school flower, each element told a story of pride and achievement. Until commencement, students wore their rings with the words “Texas State University” facing inward. During the graduation ceremony, they turned their rings outward to signify their readiness to face the world.
Students arrived at their designated check-in times and brought all necessary documentation. Comfortable shoes proved helpful, as the event required some walking. Parking was available in University Events Center Lot D, providing convenient access to the venue.
For those unable to attend, rings were made available for pickup at the Alumni Association office starting the following week. Any remaining rings were shipped by Balfour.
As the semester came to a close, the Ring Celebration highlighted the hard work and dedication of Texas State students. For Bobcats and their families, it was a day to celebrate accomplishments and embrace the pride of belonging to a vibrant community.
Congratulations to the graduates — they wore their rings with pride.
