The Taproom to celebrate 30th anniversary
Join The Taproom on Saturday, Dec. 28 for “I Love The 90s,” an all-day anniversary party celebrating the eatery’s 30th birthday.
A San Marcos and Texas State University institution since 1994, The Taproom will host a full day of 90s music, craft beer tastings, whiskey tastings, class giveaways, contests, bingo and more to share its appreciation with the whole community.
Some of the exciting anniversary events include:
• Win free burgers for a year! The sweepstakes drawing will be held on Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. Limit one entry per person. The sweepstakes rules are available in person at The Taproom, and there’s no purchase necessary to enter.
• Guest bartenders David Dishman — the original owner and founder of The Taproom — and Kenneth Fitzgerald, the first “regular” who installed Taproom’s draft lines on New Year’s Eve 1994.
• Hourly brewery and distillery features with tastings and glass giveaways including: Starbase Brewing, Saint Arnold’s Brewing, Meanwhile Brewing, Altstadt Brewing Company, New Belgium, Shiner, Garrison Brothers Whiskey and more.
• Complimentary 30th anniversary Taproom pint glasses for the first 100 guests (One glass per customer limit; Must be 21+ in order to claim it).
• A 90s photo booth and prizes for the first, second and third best 90s outfit / costume.
• A 90s R&B and hip hop DJ set with Chief and the Doomsday Device from 4 - 7 p.m.
• Wingo Wango Bingo Bango. Drew Sebesta and Cati Jo Kincaid will host a special Saturday night game starting at 8 p.m. with prizes from local breweries and Happy Clouds Smoke Shop. Players must be 21+ to participate.
The Taproom opened on Dec. 31, 1994 and has stood the test of time, providing burgers, beers and community to locals and students for 30 years. Current owners Samantha Strahan and Sara Chavez purchased the business in late 2021 and are proud to continue the stewardship of this cultural institution.
