LOCAL EVENTS
Small Business Saturday was in full effect this weekend on the Square as both the downtown Farmer’s Market and the San Marcos Art League’s Art Squared Market market were taking place around the Hays County Historic Courthouse grounds. Below left, Norman Bean, who was selling both his own and his wife’s drawings. Bean makes realistic drawings in a variety of mediums and his wife’s work was a bit more stylized even using photographs and superimposing drawn mermaid tails onto the models in some instances — for a San Marcos touch. Below right, live music at the Farmer’s Market made for a lively crowd. Bottom left, there was even canine support of local small businesses. Bottom right, Art Squared also had live music featuring the Swingin’ Swains. Pictured is MariLisa, who is a part of the band.
