US FOODS TO EXPAND BUDA FACILITY

HAYS CALDWELL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP

The over $120 million investment will add 165 jobs to the local community

US Foods, one of the nation’s leading foodservice distributors, announced plans to expand its operations in Buda, adding 165 jobs and investing more than $120 million in the area.

After considering multiple locations nationwide, the company selected Buda, citing $3 million in competitive incentive packages from the Buda Economic Development Corporation, the city of Buda, Hays County, and the Texas Enterprise Fund. The distributor also highlighted the region’s growth potential as a deciding factor.

The expansion will add 170,000 square feet to US Foods’ existing facility and is expected to be completed by 2027. The new positions will offer an average annual salary of $74,000, according to the Buda EDC.

“We’re thrilled to have been selected for the US Foods expansion project, making them Buda’s largest employer,” said Jennifer Storm, Buda Economic Development Corporation CEO. “They will add 165 jobs to their existing employment base with the expansion adding additional capacity for the company’s continued growth across the region. In addition, the expansion will enable significant additional sales tax for the city of Buda and the EDC.”

Taylor McIntyre, area president at US Foods, expressed gratitude for the collaboration that made the project possible.

“Central Texas is a critical part of our distribution footprint, and we’ve been proud to do business here since opening our Buda warehouse in 2011,” McIntyre said. “We appreciate the support from the Office of the Texas Governor, the city of Buda, the Buda EDC, and Hays County for this important expansion project. It will allow us to continue growing and enhancing our partnerships with foodservice operators across the region.”

Hays County Commissioner Michelle Cohen, Precinct 2, emphasized the project’s impact on the local economy.

“The US Foods expansion project is a great example of existing businesses reinvesting in our local economy through collaboration,” Cohen said. “This initiative not only enhances the local job market but also fosters a more dynamic and resilient economy for our community.”

Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said the expansion will benefit the entire county.

“The expansion of US Foods into Hays County, specifically Buda, is a win for the entire region,” Becerra said. “It means more opportunities, more jobs and a stronger foundation for our local economy.”

Governor Greg Abbott congratulated US Foods on their expansion in Texas.

“This significant investment in Buda brings new jobs for hardworking Texans and showcases the strength of our state’s continuing economic expansion,” Abbott said in a statement. “Companies invest and expand in every region of our great state because of our unmatched business-friendly climate, reasonable regulations and highly skilled workforce. I look forward to seeing continued success for US Foods as we work together to build a bigger, better Texas for all.”
