WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND?

Our Town

The San Marcos Daily Record staff gives recommendations on what to do in our community

IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

The holiday season is in full swing, and there are tons of events going on around Hays County. This Saturday, the Zumbathon is a fundraiser for the San Marcos Rattler Cheerleaders, who will help in teaching a Zumba class at Cuauhtemoc Hall from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will

also be vendors set up from noon until 4 p.m. Tickets will be $12 at the door. La Cima is also hosting the farmer’s market on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the La Cima Community Center. This will include a Christmas Bazaar. If you’re in for a drive, both Wimberley and Dripping

Springs are starting Hometown Holiday celebrations this weekend with tree lightings on Saturday. Wimberley will have a Lighted Christmas Parade with Santa Claus himself, which starts at 6 p.m. Both communities have tons of events over the entire weekend.

BUYING PRESENTS AND ASKING SANTA FOR SOME

After Black Friday, which is a worldwide chance to buy Christmas presents at a lower cost, there is a chance to spend while making a difference. The Art Squared Market will be having its Small Business Saturday on the square from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a chance to buy your presents from people that will remember

your name and your purchase as each one makes a difference to a small business. Sunday at 4 p.m. old jolly Saint Nick will be in Kyle from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mary Kyle Hartson Park. Since 1999, the city of Kyle has invited Santa to Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park to be a part of the downtown tree-lighting

event, and he’s been at every one since. There will be music performed by local school choirs and bands, photos with Santa, free kids activities and there will be a holiday market with both food and other goods.

PAINTING WITH LIZ AT PATIO DOLCETTO

Patio Dolcetto, a cozy wine bar in San Marcos, invites you to “Painting with Liz,” a public event designed to inspire creativity and fun. Taking place at 322 Cheatham St., this two-hour guided painting session is an opportunity for art enthusiasts of all levels to relax, create and enjoy a lively atmosphere.

For just $35 per person, participants will receive all the supplies needed to complete a stunning painting of an Italian villa. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a first-time painter, instructor Liz will guide you through the process, ensuring everyone leaves with a beautiful piece of artwork. To secure

your spot, contact Liz at 512-225-6685. Attendees are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes early to explore Patio Dolcetto’s menu and order a drink or snack to enjoy while painting. Don’t miss out on this chance to unwind, get creative and make memories in the heart of San Marcos.
