In an energized ceremony, city officials, developers and local businessmen and women gathered for a groundbreaking event marking the start of construction on the highly anticipated retail development. This milestone project, anchored by a new Sprouts Farmers Market, promises to transform the area near 1626 and Kohlers Crossing in Kyle, a vision that has been nearly a decade in the making.

GBT Realty Corporation, a national commercial development and investment company based in Tennessee, is developing the area within the Brick-and-Mortar District at Plum Creek adjacent to Heroes Memorial Park. Retail space includes a 23,256-squarefoot Sprouts Farmers Market and three retail buildings totaling 18,325 square feet.

“This is really exciting for me,” Kyle Mayor Travis Mitchell said. “When I first arrived in Kyle back in 2015, I envisioned retail thriving on the north end of Kohlers before my term was up. Today, we’re seeing that vision take shape.”

Recalling the faded sign that once read “Uptown Kyle Coming Soon,” he noted the transformation of the site from an open field to a bustling retail and residential hub, with amenities that will serve the growing community.

Sprouts Farmers Market, known for its commitment to quality, fresh and affordable groceries, will bring an array of local produce, bulk foods and healthy choices to the residents of Kyle, along with 80 to 100 jobs. Store representatives expressed appreciation for the city’s partnership and estimated an opening date in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Also speaking at the event was Marc McConnell, Arch-Con Corporation senior vice president, the project’s general contractor, who highlighted the collaborative spirit driving the project.

“It truly takes a village,” he said, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in making the vision a reality. “Sprouts has such a friendly and fresh take on grocery shopping, and we are happy to be a small part of their growth.”

As the ceremony concluded, guests were invited to grab shovels for the traditional groundbreaking photos, celebrating the next chapter in Kyle’s growth and the city’s shared commitment to community-driven development.
