THRIFTING FOR A GOOD CAUSE

This year, in the spirit of upcycling and repurposing, I’ve decided to thrift and buy local for all of our holiday gifts. Every morning, I scroll through thrift-centric reels and Instagram stories on how to transform a copper ash tray circa 1974 into an attractive minizen garden, or an antique sugar bowl into a quirky container for succulents, so I think I’m ready to begin my search. As luck would have it, San Marcos Gold Santa is having a charity yard sale on Saturday at the Maurice T. Suttles VFW Hall located at 1701 Hunter Rd. This is Gold Santa’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and funds raised will support local SMCISD families in need this holiday season. Head over to the VFW Hall between 8 a.m. and noon. You never know what kinds of treasures you might find, and it’s all for a good cause.
