Wimberley is back in the state title for the first time since 2020 as the Texans will face-off with the Canyon Randall Raiders for the 4A Division II State title.
The Texans enter the state title game with a 41-3 overall record and are considered to be the No. 1 ranked team in 4A Division II.
Two of the Texans losses came against 5A schools in Liberty Hill and Melissa. The last loss for the Texans came against rival San Antonio Davenport in district play. Wimberley later defeated Davenport in the second game of district play to share the district title.
Since their loss against Davenport on Oct. 1, Wimberley has won 13 games in a row while dropping just one set. During the Texans playoff run, Wimberley has yet to drop a set in the postseason.
The Texans are led by senior Laney Hennessee. The Alabama commit enters the state title game with 499 total kills and 409 digs.
Second in kills is junior Addison Parks with 349 followed by junior Lili Sandoval with 194.
On offense, junior Carson Peoples leads the team in assists with 721 followed by junior Skyler Herring with 588.
Senior Rhagen Masur leads the team in digs with 409. Hennessee is second in total digs followed by senior Addie Laney with 212.
The Texans are competing in their 11th state tournament appearance and will look to win their seventh state title in program history.
From 1998 through 2003, Wimberley qualified for the state tournament five out the last six seasons and won four state titles in a span of five years. The Texans later added two more state titles during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Tip-off for Wimberley- Canyon Randall is set for 4 p.m. today at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.
