Texas State swept James Madison in their twogame series on senior night as the Bobcats defeated the Dukes 3-0 [25-15, 25-11, 25-18].

Texas State and Head Coach Sean Huiet finish the regular season with a 19-8 overall record and a 13-3 conference record.

“I thought that was a very good win for us,” Huiet said. “I thought that we came out and were the aggressor tonight. I’m just really proud. I thought [MJ McCurdy and Sam Wunsch] had a heck of a night. We sent our seniors out on a win, and I’m glad we did that tonight.”

Texas State and James Madison battled it out in the first set, trading the lead back and forth before the Dukes took a 10-9 lead.

The Bobcats responded by going on a 7-1 run to take a 16-11 lead. The run was enough to put Texas State over James Madison in the first set, winning 25-15.

In the second set, the Bobcats jumped out to 6-0 before leading 8-1.

The Dukes attempted to make a comeback and cut their deficit down to 14-8. But Texas State made a big run at 8-0 to lead to 22-8. The Bobcats went on to win the second set 25-11.

A motivated James Madison squad determined not to get swept opened the third set on a 6-1 run.

The Bobcats made their attempt to comeback in the game but couldn’t break through with the Dukes leading at 14-11.

Texas State responded by going on their largest run of the night at 10-1 to take a commanding 21-15 lead.

James Madison was unable to overcome their deficit as Texas State went to win the third set 25-18 and sweep the game.

Texas State enters the Sun Belt Tournament as the No. 2 from the West Division and finished one game behind Arkansas State for the regular season championship.

The Bobcats open up tournament play against James Madison in the third consecutive game played between the two teams.

Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. Friday.
