Devastating collision leaves teen in critical condition

TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY

A tragic accident in San Marcos involving a pedestrian and a vehicle has left a teenager in critical condition. On Oct. 31, 19-year-old Mia Pace was struck by a car while crossing Ranch Road 12.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:41 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Preliminary reports indicate that Pace failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

According to a Go-FundMe made by the victim’s sister, Pace sustained severe injuries, including broken legs, a broken arm, a broken back, a ruptured bladder, a lacerated spleen and liver and a concussion. She has undergone multiple surgeries, including a spinal fusion and bladder repair, and has had metal plates and screws inserted into her limbs.

While Pace is currently stable, her road to recovery is expected to be long and arduous. She will require extensive physical therapy, medical appointments and potential additional surgeries. The financial burden of her medical expenses is significant, and insurance coverage may not be sufficient to cover all costs.

To assist Pace and her family during this difficult time, a fundraising campaign has been initiated. Donations will help cover the costs of medical treatments, rehabilitation and other related expenses. Any amount, no matter how small, can make a significant difference.

Those wishing to contribute can donate on gofundme. com/f/mia-paces recovery-fundraiser. Additionally, sharing this story with others can help raise awareness and support for Pace’s recovery
