LBJ Museum of San Marcos to host Christmas program

LYNDON BAINES JOHNSON MUSEUM

Students from Bowie Elementary School will once again help San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson light the Christmas Tree at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum of San Marcos on Wednesday, Dec. 4. There will also be a surprise visit from Santa Claus.

The public is invited to attend a cookie/hot chocolate reception at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony at 6 p.m. at the museum, located at 131 N. Guadalupe Street.

The first grade students of music teacher Danielle Rodriguez as well as the first grade teachers Sara Conway, Karen Dacy, Kristen White and Hortencia Collazo will sing Christmas Carols. After their performance, Hughson and Santa will congratulate the children and light the Christmas tree. Photos of the students with Santa Claus and the Mayor will be taken. Plus Santa will hear Christmas wishes and pose for family photographs. Parents are encouraged to take photos.

The museum will also be holding its 2025 LBJ Museum of San Marcos Benefit Gala on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025 in the Grand Ballroom of the LBJ Student Center at Texas State University. The museum will host a silent auction. For more information please visit our website: lbjmuseum. com/events/2023gala.

Located on the San Marcos downtown square, the LBJ Museum was established in 1997 and opened in 2006 to honor the 36th President of the United States, a 1930 graduate of Southwest Texas State Teachers College (now Texas State University). The museum offers exhibits of Johnson’s early years as a student and as a teacher in Cotulla, Tx that shaped his future political career.

The Museum is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday to Saturday.
