The Lady Rattler basketball team took second place at the Riviera Roundup in Corpus Christi.
San Marcos enters the week with a 6-1 overall record.
After beating Leander, San Marcos met the San Antonio Reagan Rattlers in the semifinals on Friday.
In a defensive slugfest, San Marcos defeated Reagan 38-24. Sophomore Rileigh Good led the team in scoring with 13 points followed by junior Azariah Fennell with seven. Fennell also led the team in rebounds with nine with senior Ayleceia Pierson with eight. Ezra Tobias led the team in assists with four.
In the championship game on Saturday, the Lady Rattlers met the Killeen Chaparral Bobcats.
Despite their best efforts, the Lady Rattlers fell short, losing 46-43 in a close battle.
Fennell led the team in scoring and rebounds with 17 points and seven rebounds. Tobias led the team in assists with four.
San Marcos will be back on the road this week in the road showdown with Austin High before playing at the Allen Hoopfest tournament.
RATTLERS FALLS TO DRIPPING SPRINGS IN SEASON OPENER San Marcos fell to Hays County neighbor Dripping Springs 57-54 in the season opener for both teams in the CenTex Showcase at Vandergrift High School.
The Rattlers will host Smithson Valley before the San Marcos Daily Record time of press. San Marcos will play in the Austin High Tournament this weekend.
