LOCAL EVENTS
Grateful for your service
The city of San Marcos held its Veterans Day Parade on Saturday. The San Marcos Square was filled with locals celebrating service members. The parade was kicked off with the loud soaring of two fighter jets above the crowd before the very large procession moved through the streets. Local veterans groups participated in the parade. The American Veterans Post 104 had a float followed by motorcycles. The VFW Maurice T. Suttles Post 3413 was also in attendance. San Marcos Kiwanis Club held its Bike Brigade during the festival in which they helped area children decorate their bikes with red, white and blue and released them into the parade. Many of the local schools were in attendance, including the San Marcos High School band, SMHS football team, SMHS cheerleaders, SMHS AFJROTC, San Marcos Academy cheerleaders, SMA JROTC, the Wonderland Private School Wildcats, among others. Also marching in the parade were the Cub Scouts Troop 18.
One thing was clear, veterans are highly revered in this community.
