COMMUNITY ART AND VETERANS SUPPORT

The San Marcos Arts Commission has a Community Art Gallery housed in the front lobby of City Hall. According to the website, it was established this year, and “it is a space to share art with residents and visitors and to elevate the arts in our community.” This Friday is the opening reception to be held at City Hall from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday there are several Veteran-related events. The city of San Marcos is having its Veterans Day Parade starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The parade will begin on Hopkins Street at the intersection of CM Allen Parkway and will travel toward the Hays County Courthouse. After passing the courthouse, the parade will turn left onto Guadalupe Street, then turn left onto San Antonio Street, travel down San Antonio Street and turn left onto CM Allen Parkway. The parade will then turn right onto Hopkins Street where they will return to the line-up area for disbanding. If you have kids over five years of age, they may want to participate in the Kiwanis Club bike brigade, which will take part in the parade. If interested, one only needs to bring a bike because the Kiwanis Club will provide decorations. Just arrive at the northwest corner of the square between 9 and 10 a.m. There will also be a Veterans Day festival on Saturday. More details are included in the article on page 1.
