Bobcats win first gameincomeback victory over

BASKETBALL RECAP

Eastern Michigan

The Texas State Women’s Basketball team captured their first win of the season with a dramatic 75-71 win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles.

The Bobcats trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter before making their comeback. Texas State tied the game at 71-71 following a freethrow made by senior guard Crystal Smith.

With 17 seconds left in the game, sophomore guard Mia Galbraith hit the layup to put the Bobcats up 73-71.

Senior forward Jaylin Foster made the steal on the Eagles next possession to prevent the game from being tied up. Sophomore guard Ja’Mia Harris hit one free throw followed up by another made free throw attempt by senior guard Destiny Terrell to seal the win.

Harris led the team in scoring with 17 points followed by Foster with 15. Freshman guard Heather Baymon was third with 13 points.

Texas State will return home this Saturday in a showdown against the Texas A&M Corpus-Christi Islanders. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

LADY RATTLERS BLOWOUT SMITHSON VALLEY 

San Marcos notched their first road win of the season in a 61-29 win over the Smithson Valley Rangers.

The Lady Rattlers improved their record to 2-0 on the season.

San Marcos held Smithson Valley to under ten points in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters while scoring over 15 points in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters.

The Lady Rattlers will play in the Corpus Christi Riviera Roundup tournament this weekend.
