Preliminary Election Results

Editor's note: These are the preliminary results as of 10:30 p.m. on Election Day based on votes cast by Hays County voters only. At the time of reporting, 52 polling locations had reported and six polling places had not. According to the Hays County website, the unofficial cumulative results are updated frequently. An updated article will be published tomorrow with final results.

The votes are rolling in, and 52 of the 58 polling locations in Hays County have reported their numbers.

For U.S. President, the official totals are not available yet. However, amongst Hays County voters only, the candidate leading the race with 62,836 (51.93%) preliminary votes is Kamala D.  Harris, democrat. Donald J. Trump, republican, received 56,537 (46.73%) preliminary votes from Hays County voters. 

For U.S. Senator representing Texas among Hays County voters only, the candidate leading the race with 64,659 (53.50%) preliminary votes is Colin Allred, democrat. Ted Cruz, republican, received 52,787 (43.67%) preliminary votes from Hays County voters. Ted Brown received 3,415 (2.83%) preliminary votes from Hays County voters.

For San Marcos Mayor, the candidate leading the race with 13,116 (59.28%) preliminary votes is incumbent Jane Hughson. Juan Miguel Arredondo received 9,011 (40.72%) preliminary votes.

For San Marcos City Council Place 5, the candidate leading the race with 5,764 (31.70%) preliminary votes is Lorenzo Gonzalez . Roland Saucedo received 4,808 (26.45%) preliminary votes. Griffin Spell received 4,506 (24.78%) preliminary votes. Atom Von Arndt received 3,103 (17.07%) preliminary votes.  

For San Marcos City Council Place 6, the candidate leading the race with 12,037 (63.75%) preliminary votes is Amanda Rodriguez . Maraya Dunn received 6,845 (36.25%) preliminary votes.

For Hays County Commissioner Pct. 1, Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe, democrat, ran unopposed and received ​​15,290 (100%) votes.

For Hays County Commissioner Pct. 3, the candidate leading the race with 17,722 (53.10%) preliminary votes is Morgan Hammer, republican. Rebecca Minnick received 15,651 (46.90%) preliminary votes. 

For Hays County Sheriff, the candidate leading the race with 61,461 (52.95%) preliminary votes is Anthony Hipolito Jr., republican. Alex Villalobos, democrat, received 54,611 (47.05%) preliminary votes.

For Hays County Tax Assessor-Collector, Jennifer M. Escobar, democrat, ran unopposed and received 74,767 (100%).

For Hays County Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Place 1, Jo Anne Prado ran unopposed and received 21,691 (100%).

For Hays County Constable Pct. 1, David Peterson, democrat, ran unopposed and received 21,901 (100%) votes.

For Hays County Constable Pct. 3, Don Montague, republican, ran unopposed and received 8,160 (100%).

For Hays County District Clerk, the candidate leading the race with 59,913 (52.25%) preliminary votes is Amanda K. Calvert, democrat. Philip Muzzy, republican, received 54,743 (47.75%) preliminary votes. 

For 22nd Judicial District Judge among Hays County voters, R. Bruce Boyer, republican, ran unopposed and received 76,079 (100.00%) preliminary votes.

For 453rd Judicial District Judge among Hays County voters, Sherri K. Tibbe, democrat, ran unopposed and received 73,271 (100.00%) preliminary votes.

For 483rd Judicial District Judge among Hays County voters, the candidate leading the race with 60,014 (52.29%) preliminary votes is Alicia Key, democrat. Tanner Neidhardt, republican,  received 54,752 (47.71%) preliminary votes from Hays County voters. 

For County Court-at-Law Number 3 Judge among Hays County voters, the candidate leading the race with 59,681 (51.79%) preliminary votes is Elaine S. Brown. Robert E. Updegrove received 55,564 (48.21%) preliminary votes among Hays County voters. 

For U.S. Representative, District 21, among Hays County voters, the candidate leading the race is Chip Roy, republican, with 36,133 (53.94%) preliminary votes. Kristin Hook, democrat, received 29,269 (43.69%) preliminary votes from Hays County voters. Bob King, libertarian, received 1,588 (2.37%) preliminary votes from Hays County voters.

For U.S. Representative, District 35, among Hays County voters, the candidate leading the race is Greg Casar, democrat, with 31,138 (61.13%) preliminary votes. Steven Wright received 19,801 (38.87%) preliminary votes from Hays County voters.

For State Senator, District 25, among Hays County voters, the candidate leading the race is Donna Campbell, republican, with 28,880 (59.11%) preliminary votes. Merrie Fox, democrat, received 19,981 (40.89%) preliminary votes from Hays County voters.

For State Representative, District 45, among Hays County voters, the candidate leading the race is Erin Zwiener, democrat, with 50,624 (56.49%) preliminary votes. Tennyson G. Moreno, republican, received 38,999 (43.51%) preliminary votes from Hays County voters.

For State Representative, District 73, among Hays County voters, the candidate leading the race is Carrie Isaac, republican, with 16,326 60.66%) preliminary votes. Sally Duval, democrat, received 10,590 (39.34%) preliminary votes from Hays County voters.

Hays County Proposition A — road bond received 62,127 (55.62%) for and 49,569 (44.38%) against.
