SAN MARCOS ART LEAGUE
The San Marcos Art League is hosting a new art showcase, “Red, White and Blue: Veterans Appreciation,” a heartfelt tribute to those who have served in the military. This special exhibition will honor veterans and those active in military service by featuring a diverse collection of artworks created by local veterans, active service members and talented artists from the community. The opening reception will be held at 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the San Marcos Art Center, 117 N. Guadalupe Street.
“Red, White and Blue” is more than just an art show; it’s a community gathering to honor the bravery and sacrifice of our service members. This exhibition provides a platform for veterans to express their experiences and emotions through art, fostering understanding and appreciation within our community.
“This year, the entire art community has joined in producing work that honors our veterans,” San Marcos Art League Vice President Gwendolyn Hustvedt said. “By choosing red, white and blue as the theme, we can create a cohesive show, while coming from a variety of mediums and experiences.”
The exhibition will be open to the public through the month of Nov., allowing visitors to experience the powerful narratives woven into each artwork. Don’t miss this unique chance to support our veterans and immerse yourself in their creative expressions.
Join the Art League for an inspiring evening of art and camaraderie on Friday. The opening reception will offer attendees the chance to enjoy refreshments while engaging with the artists and their powerful stories behind each piece. This showcase promises to be a vibrant celebration of creativity and resilience, featuring an array of mediums, including paintings, sketches, woodworking, ceramics and more.
