Kiwanis Club, along with the city of San Marcos, is having its annual Bicycle Brigade on Saturday during the San Marcos Veterans Day Parade. Local children are invited to bring their bikes and have them decorated in red, white and blue in honor of service members. Everyone involved will be entered into a raffle to win a free bike donated by San Marcos Academy Sports and Outdoors.
Lon Shell, Veterans Day Parade Committee chairman, said that those interested in participating should arrive with their bikes between 9 and 10 a.m at the northwest corner of the square. All decorations will be provided at that location, including flags, streamers and sign materials. Parents may walk with their children in the parade or ride on the Kiwanis float while their children bike in the parade, whichever they prefer. Kids will join as the Kiwanis Club members escort them into the Veterans Day Parade and ride around the Courthouse. This event is for children over five years old and pre-registration is not necessary.
