Johanna Hansen to be honored during Rotary Foundation Month

ROTARY CLUB OF SAN MARCOS

The Rotary Club of San Marcos honors Johanna Hansen on Nov. 6 for her support of the Rotary Foundation. Former Rotary District Governor Jerry Hardy will present a program about the Rotary Foundation and honor Johanna's generous support of it.

Johanna has been a San Marcos Rotarian for more than 30 years, with more than 30 years of perfect attendance. She designates that a significant amount of her donations be used to fund water and sanitation projects by the Rotary Foundation, a Rotary area of focus that she has been interested in for years.

Johanna has served in a variety of roles in the San Marcos club, including club president. She was actively involved in education and literacy projects at the Rotary District level, and she has hosted more than a dozen Rotary Youth Exchange students while also sending two of her own children abroad as part of Rotary Youth Exchange.

Additionally, Jerry Hardy will be on hand to discuss the Rotary Foundation Month. Hardy is a former District Governor. He will share information about the Foundation and the programs it supports around the world. Hardy is a retired United States Air Force pilot with a bachelor’s degree in math and a graduate degree in systems management. His final duty assignment was as comptroller and chief financial officer for Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He has served in multiple roles at San Antonio West Rotary Club The Rotary Club of San Marcos was chartered in 1921. It has funded a variety of international projects. Locally, the club supports youth-serving organizations, programs that target food insecurity and scholarships for San Marcos area high school seniors.

The club meets Wednesdays at 11:45 a.m. at the VFW Hall, 1701 Hunter Road. Visitors are always welcome.
