Texas Water Utilities, which provides water and wastewater services to many Kyle residents, partnered with the Kyle Police Department to provide a medication disposal site on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.
Kyle residents properly disposed of 96 pounds of prescription and over-thecounter medications.
When customers flush prescriptions down the toilet or sink drain, it pollutes water sources. Many medications like antibiotics and hormones can’t be filtered out of treated wastewater, and make their way back to rivers, lakes and streams. The take back program encourages people to properly dispose of prescription and over-thecounter medications to help protect water sources and wildlife.
