Texas State bounced back with a two-game sweep of the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks. The Bobcats sit in the third place in the Sun Belt West Division standings and are one game behind South Alabama for the division lead.
In their game on Friday, the Bobcats defeated the Warhawks 3-1 [15-25, 2516, 25-22, 25-13].
Sophomore outside hitter Samantha Wunsch led the teams in kills with 19 followed by junior middle blocker Bailey Hanner with 11. Senior setter Ryann Torres led the team in assists with 41.
On defense, senior libero Alyssa Ortega led the team in digs with 17 followed by freshman outside hitter M.J. McCurdy with 16. Torres was third in digs with 11 to complete the double-double while sophomore defensive specialist Alyssa Clark was fourth with 10. The Bobcats also had 12 team blocks.
On Saturday, the Bobcats completed the two-game sweep with a 3-0 win [25-9, 25-22, 2512].
Wunsch led the team in kills with 18 followed by McCrudy with 10. Torres led the team in assists with 40.
Ortega led the team in digs with 19 followed by McCrudy with 12, completing the doubledouble.
Texas State will be back home this weekend for a two-game series against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
Tip-off for Friday’s game starts at 6 p.m. and tip-off for Saturday’s game starts at 2 p.m.
